CI 1.7.2 or CI2 for a new project?

Hello, I know that I never have posted on here before. But I have worked with CI a lot. And I'm about to start a new project and my question is simple.

What should I use:
CodeIgniter 1.7.2 (latest official version) OR CodeIgniter 2 from here?

Wich one is the one I should use for a new project?

Derek weighed in on a topic a few days basically saying that EE and other projects are now running 2.0. Some of the other popular apps like PyroCMS & ExciteCMS are 2.0. If you comfortable working a few tweaks, 2.0 should be fine. I have a project in beta, and just upgraded from 1.7.2 to 2.0. Took about 10mins to rewrite a few lines, and move a few files I extended. So far smooth sailing. I noticed the profiler showing slightly more RAM being used like ~.5-1MB more, but it's about 2x faster for me. Execution time was around .6-.9 secs to .2-.5 secs. It seems almost all things are complete in the core, helpers, and libraries, and most of the commit logs show syntax errors being fixed in user guide.

Having switched myself, I would suggest using 2.0dev now.
