This is a safety issue.
BasePath is defined in index.php, which is normally the only one to be called directly (http://mysite.com/index.php).

If this constant is not defined, the script keeps spreading to run and returns the message shown.

Other safeguards are in works to protect your files (.htaccess, index.html), so it's not very serious, but if other protections are also fallible, this is where potential problems begins.

I advise you however to do to minimize future risks.
