This is becoming a common theme on forums:

Quote:why dont you try laravel or FUEL PHP. the later has a command line tool that can create database & basic crud functionality. Or try laravel, CI has not been updated in ages so i would jump ship.

Are you guys going to update? Maybe bring PDO and update to new version of php?

I don't think they're adding anything new until a new owner for CI is found.

Why did you even start CI if it "doesn't fit in your business model"? You expect wise people writing a framework to be smarter than this rather than spending money into this and leaving everyone using it hangin up in the air.

I don't really think anything is hanging up in the air. If anything CI is stable and the documentation is good, so just use it or move on. There's no doubt that there is value in using CI as is. I seriously doubt anyone is going to want to own it because it's somewhat "legacy" code now, and Ellislab probably has some crazy requirements before passing the torch. (like their name will never be removed from the code or something worse).

Yes but it gets old as PHP is moving with speed of light.

Any word on a company that will take on the Codeigniter Framework? Will Ellis Lab update it if any changes comes out on PHP? Don't want to have to convert all my customers websites to another framework, that would not be good. Sad
