Anyone using CI2 with ExtJS / Ext.Direct?

Hi,

just like the title says, is anyone using CI to serve JSON to ext interfaces?

I was thinking of using the views to house the JSs, perhaps along with some logic in terms of displaying/hiding certain aspects of the interface based on authentication permissions, etc, and then an API controller to feed JSON and communicate to the DB?

https://hg.osunix.org/mikebranderhorst/c.../wiki/Home seems to be a last attempt at CI2<->ext.direct integration but I havent been able to get it to work... Is anyone doing this succesfully and doesnt mind sharing info/code to get me started?

I'm new to CI but experienced PHP programmer.
