Head over to EllisLab's GitHub page and view the issues for 3.0.x.

You will see 24 open issues. Probably these need to be closed before 3.0 will be released.

If you want to push the development, you should fork the repo and fix some of these issues and make a pull request afterwards.

I have the same question to. It looks like nobody seems to know. I've tried the GIT version and it looks stable to me. Can somebody of the (core) team tell more about the progress of 3.0?

There's no specific time table for releasing 3.0.

Thanks Lab Technician, Are we talking in weeks or months or can't you say anything about it? Is it stable enough to use it for production?

I can't speak to the time schedule, but I am using 3.0, but with the understanding that it is NOT released and could break my app on the next update. I will say that it works well for the application (one only) that I'm using to test 3.0. I (opinion) would not use un-released code for production.

I can't give any official word (I'm just a member of the community) - just saying what I know based on CI's own news and chatter from the Reactor team.

As the issues and pull requests get smaller, I'm sure talk of release dates will increase and become slightly more specific. Hopefully before the end of 2012, but I don't think there are any guarantees of that.
