i have registered a domain with yalcom.net. its cpanel. do i have to install CI or i can just upload files....

I'm assuming your host has php and everything else you might need (mysql?).

That being said, uploading the CI files /is/ installing CI :-) I think it would be a lot easier to use FTP since there are a lot of CI files.

Yes, public_html is the Web root.

If I understand the installation instructions correctly, you need to upload the entire CI folder structure to your website - so download CI, and then upload all those files to your public_html folder.
