I need help with .htaccess configuration for css/images inside the views folder

Hi everybody!

I have created a template system for my application allowing for theming of both the backend and frontend of the application. My view folder is structured like this:

Code:
- views
---- backend
------- default
---------- style
---- frontend
------- default
---------- style

Within the folders "backend" and "frontend" lies themes (only default currently) for the two sides of the application and inside them lies their respective view files and folders. The problem is that the .htaccess file in the applications folder contains:

Code:
Deny from all

So I can't include anything from inside the theme folders. I don't know much about apache configuration and therefore I would like some help Smile How should I edit the file to allow for css, images and js (and probably most of the filetypes I could need), something like this script but for the views folder:

Code:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /valo/

    #Removes access to the system folder by users.
    #Additionally this will allow you to create a System.php controller,
    #previously this would not have been possible.
    #'system' can be replaced if you have renamed your system folder.
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^system.*
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /valo/index.php?/$1 [L]

    #When your application folder isn't in the system folder
    #This snippet prevents user access to the application folder
    #Submitted by: Fabdrol
    #Rename 'application' to your applications folder name.
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^application.*
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /valo/index.php?/$1 [L]

    #Checks to see if the user is attempting to access a valid file,
    #such as an image or css document, if this isn't true it sends the
    #request to index.php
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /valo/index.php?/$1 [L]
</IfModule>

<IfModule !mod_rewrite.c>
    # If we don't have mod_rewrite installed, all 404's
    # can be sent to index.php, and everything works as normal.
    # Submitted by: ElliotHaughin
    ErrorDocument 404 /index.php
</IfModule>

Thank you!

Code:
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|themes|assets|css|js|images|img|media|xml|user_guide|robots\.txt|favicon\.ico)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L,QSA]
Modify to suit your needs.

Thanks but I said that I didn't know much about the apache configuration so I could do with a little more help. I have seen the code snippet you posted all over the forum and it's for URI-rewriting. The script I already have which I posted in the original post allows for the rewriting and other assets as css and images. I think you've misunderstood the problem.

The thing is that the application folder's .htaccess has "deny from all" so the content I try to include gets blocked, not because of URI-rewriting. Can't I just write "Allow from all" in the "styles" folder in my theme folders?
