Using Config class to load database.php settings fails?

Hiya - I'm trying to load a stock version of the database.php config settings via the Config class and get an error,

"Your database.php file does not appear to contain a valid configuration array."

Is this expected? I'm trying to create an installer and would love to be able to write into those settings...thanks!

eso te puede estar pasando pq no se puede conectar a la base ya que deben estar faltando variables en la configuracion, proba copiar de nuevo el database.php a application/config/ y asegurate que tenes configurado el $active_group
