When loading a Model is __construct called?

When a Model is loaded is __construct automatically called? If so, how can I add parameters?

When Loading a model, the construction() method is called as would a normal object. However, I do not believe their is a way to pass data to it. As the second parameter of this->load->model() only accepts a different name to access the model by then by the model name.
