Just because it is in the stylesheet doesn't mean it is applied. When you have

.clear

that means that the div or other element that needs this style to be applied to it must have something like this:

    &lt;!-- content --&gt;

I don't remember seeing your site, or your view that is being styled by the style sheets you mentioned, but it is impossible to fix a CSS problem without viewing the HTML/XHTML. There's no way we can see how the elements are arranged, or if there are internal/inline styles being applied.
