I agree with the last reply. This problem hung me up for quite a while. It works other places in my code but not in one in particular. I tried every method I could think of until I found this post, which solved the problem for me. It is unfortunate that this issue has been around for years and is still causing people unneeded stress. The solution to the problem should be implemented in the function no matter if it is a CI issue or a PHP issue.
