Pyrocms Installation on MAMP

Not sure if the Codeigniter ignited code forum is the place for this type of Q - but I see Phil answering Q's here so here goes:

Was testing out Pyrocms on MAMP. Installation is hung up on final step:

"The installer could not add any tables to the Database. Please verify your MySQL user has CREATE TABLE privileges"

Though I'm looking at Mamp's phpmyadmin and I see it did indeed create the database, tables and that the user has 100% of all priviledges.

I've tried various times: creating db via phpmyadmin or via the Pyrocms installer -- and with and without the dummy text insertions.
