FF losing Session Data...IE 7,8 is fine

I have a page where the user can update their info. It all works well in IE 7,8. In Firefox 3.5.7, however, it keeps setting a new cookie, which logs me out and causes a "userID" is undefined.

I've been reading on the forums for HOURS and tried all the variationson the theme. I READ the users manual for Sessions, and understand that.

What I do not understand is why I keep getting a new cokkie after I've logged in and want to update my info. Even after the new cookie is set I still can not update the info as the "userID" is undefined.

Does any one have any idea why this works fine in IE and not FF!?!
