Url Problems

Hello,

I am trying to use codeigniter for a api. But it translating dots and spaces into underscorces in the url Example

/comments/testing+form+through+api/customer_id/4/email/[email protected]/

In the database:
Comments: testing_form_through_api
Email: simon@about-australia_com

How do I fix this?
