The server at the time of testing the demo was overloaded it seems. PHPDevShell is actually a very lightweight PHP Framework with a ready made UI. I suggest you check out the demo again at http://demo.phpdevshell.org. Although PHPDevShell is a complete framework, you can use CodeIgniter in it if you think it is needed, but that kinda defeats the purpose.

If you are already using Codeigniter with your project, don't change (use sparks as suggested), Codeigniter is very good anyways. However, as always and as with all frameworks, PHPDevShell might offer something better in certain situations as PHPDevShell is focused on smaller development teams.
