It seems that according to the debug log, everything is working:

DEBUG - 2012-06-01 13:36:37 --> Session Class Initialized
DEBUG - 2012-06-01 13:36:37 --> A session cookie was not found.
DEBUG - 2012-06-01 13:36:37 --> Session routines successfully run
