Where to put the "template" and "template_c" folder when integrating smarty and ci ?

hi all,

I have read about a thread on integrating Smarty and Code Igniter. It was magnificent, but to me it is still a big greyish area. From what I have read, it did not explain much about how to use Smarty in CodeIgniter.

Where to put the templates and templates_c folder ? Do they even really still needed after the integration to CodeIgniter ?
