Need help with a plugin system

Plugins are not an easy functionality to code as they should be as flexible as possible without breaking the normal flow. If the framework/application has a lot of 'magic' because of convenient directory and file naming for example you can intercept the behaviour easier. But in CI a lot of things need to be hardcoded, this improves the performance but makes it harder to create plugin functionality.
