Actually, another case that might benefit from passing a model directly to the view is for something like a form preview, that you often see in web-based forum software and other applications. So the form data is sent to the controller, the model object is constructed from the form, and then handed over to the view that renders the preview based on the model data. Of course you could construct the model, then decompose the model into data to pass to the view, but wouldn't just handing the model object over to the view make more sense in this situation?
