Mootools, Scriptaculous, Prototype, YUI or JQuery?

While I do think that the 'everything on one line' method chaining that their homepage advertises should be used with caution, what I was refering to here are the function/selector names. If you work with jquery everyday you will without a doubt get used to them. Since I only use it occasionally, I find it less than intuitive. Functions like 'one' and 'map; or selectors such as 'lt' and 'gt' really tell you nothing about their behavior.
It also makes it harder to read code in the future. You might use jquery now, but switch to a new framework down the road.

So write your singleton and your functions -- jQuery doesn't prevent your from using classic DOM scripting. Often my scripts these days are 80% DOM / 20% jQuery. If you don't want the jQuery object returned, you don't have to select with it, you know -- you can just use getElementById.

Someone recently pointed me at the get() method, so that statement has lost some of it's meaning. However, if getElementById did the trick, I wouldn't be shipping a 50kb library along with it .

I agree that it is unsurpassed as a DOM manipulator, but what do you mean by heavy lifting?

What I meant was that you can manipulate what you have on the stage very well. But generating new content is a real pain. Something which jqueryui could've solved, but didn't. If they come up with a good solution of dynamically creating content, I would seriously consider making the switch.
