I am currently converting an older e-commerce site to Foxy Cart. I will probably write and then release a CodeIgniter Library when I am done, but it would be a very simple library because Foxy Cart is so easy to use.
Here's the idea behind Foxy Cart: you do all the front end stuff and they take care of all the backend stuff like payment, shipping, etc.
To get an idea of how simple it is... if you wanted to sell one product you could do it with a one page static HTML page. You just include the necessary JS files, point your forms to Foxy Cart and they handle the rest, with a very nice looking, responsive (multi-device) interface.
My problem with other shopping cart systems/software over the years has been the difficulty of customizing the front end, the overly complicated one-size-fits-all product catalog administration, and the constant updates necessary to keep the back end current. With FoxyCart I have complete control over my front end, I can make the product catalog administration as simple or complicated as it needs to be for this particular store, and I leave the back end hassles to Foxy Cart.
In theory... I'm not done yet. So far, so good, and hopefully I will still be singing their praises when I am done and the site goes live.
