Codeigniter or Laravel?

HI there geeks,
I am a Junior data engineer at one of the new Omegle clone communities which just enter the market to compete.  I have been in the data engineering field for around 4-5 years. I am quite good at it. But I am getting bored with it in recent times. and start trying new kinds of stuff like React and angular. I have learned both of them very quickly. then start moving on PHP. I have started learning code igniter and I love it. I did some projects in code igniter after getting it from Upwork. So to go in deep into the dynamic web and PHP and make some contact with experienced PHP developers. And reviews are not quite satisfying . They said that code igniter is good but Laravel is currently trending. They also suggest some other new PHP frameworks. and I get more confused. 

So since you guys are working in Codeigniter, is there anyone who has an experience with Laravel. How can you differentiate both? let me know. So I can start.
