adding a slash after index.php gives a 404

I just moved a site from a testing server to the final server, updated my baseurl and now whenver I add a trailing slash to index.php in the url is throws a 404. Any idea what's going on?

Thanks for any help I'm under the gun with this one needing to show the client something asap.

Ah, found the other post about trying the various $config['uri_protocol'] options in the config file and "REQUEST_URI" does the trick.
