CI 2.0 - when?
#1

Is there any ideas, when CI 2.0 will be released?
In other words, is there any information about current state of 2.0 version(which is currently in development), how much is CI 2 in development?

I want to start a new project with CI, but I'm worrying about current CI 2 dev-version security...

CI2 isn't written from scratch, it's the logical next step up from 1.7.2. So everything you have now, you will also have in 2.0.

I'm perfectly happy with 2. 0 for quite some time now.

+1 for CI2. WanWizard is right, your code will almost work straight out the box with 2.0 when upgrading from 1.7.2. I've noticed that most of the commits for 2.0 are syntax changes in the user guide. It seems changes in the system files are pretty minimal now. Add the fact the ellis labs is using 2.0 on their projects pretty much says it all.

2.0 is fine. I use it on my projects and in some respects it's less buggy than v1.7.2. Basically any bugs we know about in 1.7.2 or come across in 2.0 are fixed and sent to BitBucket where they get included into the core making 2.0 far better to work with.

Yup, I'd recommend you start any new project from the CI2 codebase. Its pretty solid. There is no set release date, but I think its reasonable to assume that after we get MojoMotor out the door, we'll be able to focus on CI2 formally. But the code in there is solid, and nothing will break on you.
