Yeah, its my first tutorial so please let me know what you think and the video can be found at http://www.filepanda.com/get/ey7laa13/ and will soon be available on my blog to which I will post a link to.

I know I messed up a few times but constructive criticism would be good and hints on what I can do better next time.

thanks, Luke

hello Luke:

first of all, thanks for your tutorial.

This is funny, 'cos I could watch your tutorial in viddler instead of filepanda.

I saw the Derek Allard's answer to your question about where to upload your tutorial, so I decided to visit viddler, looked for "code igniter" and your tutorial was there! Smile

I could watch it and it's nice: it discovers for me the image_upload class. I've one image uploader made by me recycling code from several sources, but this one you've made, with only some minor changes could be much better than mine.

Thanks discovering me this library and for your time creating this. I'm raring to create one video tutorial as well Smile

By the way, where is your english accent from? It sounds so... strong? Smile

pd: the viddler video quality is not 100% good. Check it out.

Yeah the viddler one is a different video, its poorer quality and has the camtasia auto zoom while this does not so should be a bit better and my accent is Australian Smile

Nice initiative, we all love so much videos and screencasts here!

But I couldn't read very well your code because you are using a black background in your editor wich make things almost unreadable in the video. The sound has also a very low level, making difficult to listen at what you are saying.

Very nice, my only criticism was the actual colour syntax of your IDE, it is abit hard to read, or maybe i just have bad eyes Sad.

Although besides that the tutorial is very good, especially for your first one.

GREAT work. I love hearing everyone's accents. Why to Australian's always sound so darn smart?

Constructive crit: you may want to change intype's colours to dark text on light bg (probably black on white) when recording, since the dark bg and moderate text was difficult to see when the screen size (and quality) got reduced.

Thanks for contributing!

Great tutorial to start with. I'm currently building an image gallery with CI using the file upload and image library to generate thumbs. For image meta data I use the EXIF data and currently I'm working on file renaming options. Linking an upload to a gallery is pretty straightforward database stuff however I have a question...

How would you handle multiple uploads?
(Uploading one image at a time is fine, unless you're building a gallery with quite a number of images)

What path would you take to allow non-technical users to upload a batch of images?
(I was thinking about uploading a ZIP file that can be decompressed and processed server side)

Bravo-- totally awesome tutorial, and even the mistakes you made only served to enhance the viewer's experience since its imperfection lent for people to share and empathize what others go through when starting out.

Looks like the video link no longer works. Is this available somewhere else?
