@kilishan I think you are on the right track. There must be some benefit to using a new CMS over existing ones.

"What makes this better for me to use than Joomla/Drupal/XOOPs/whatever?"

That is the question that should be answered.

Over EE, the main benefit would be cost and freedom of use.

Over the others, a HUGE amount of development would need to be done to match features, an an ability to more rapidly develop on top of it, or some type of easier interface would be needed.

I'm not saying it couldn't or shouldn't be done. There just needs to be a clear benefit to use it.

The point of providing more benefits or features would definately be required but the actual reason for developing this CMS is to have a person with minimal programming knowledge or designers with no programming knowledge can simply follow the onscreen instructions to install and setup the CMS and get the site working which I think is missing in these big named CMS. So the whole point is like what Codeigniter follows which is not having a CMS with lots and lots of features making it more confusing but having just enough number of features which might help any non programmer to setup it and get started within no time. The modular system would be the simplest to extend it and so I might require some of your great expertise to provide me with some real good solutions for this.

Also I would like to implement some of the Web 2.0 features in this including easy ajax and so on.

Hope to get some good suggestions from the community as the development is going real slow at this moment due to some earlier commitments.

Good Day !!!

Im really keen to help out with the development of this - please feel free to email me to let me know where you guys are at already.

What I would be more then happy to provide is the admin/install layout which Im guessing will be required? More then happy to be the xhtml/css guru Smile

Also I spent most of yesterday developing our own simple CMS and menu system - lots of tricks that I have learnt through doing it such as allowing 'content' pages to load when there is no controller found.

eg. http://site.com/about/the-team -> goes to the 'cms' controller and puts out page from db relative to 'about/the-team'

Lots of frustration but got it working! Smile

The other key thing is to get a forum (note: phpbb3 just released but I wouldn't mind trying Vanilla) happening for ignitedCMS so discussion can reside there for it and allow for better sharing of ideas.

Hello,

ignitedcms.com has lost its hosting and I would like to request someone to donate one so it can be setup again. Unfortunately I do not have any backups of the Blog and so will have to set it up again. Please contact me if someone is ready for providing me hosting for the domain.

Good Day !!!

Send me an email to - lee at pxwebdesign.com.au

Also make sure you grabbed the cached version if theres anything you need to retrieve:

Google Cache

Also, I had a spare moment on the weekend and did a quick logo using a flame that we sampled when we were doing our new logo a month or so ago.

@Lone...The logo looks awesome. What I am doing right now is designing on the skeleton of the CMS so I can put it up in the SVN. Well the site is back up and running but I might keep your donations on hosting in case I need it in future. I would also like someone to put some spare time of designing the internal structure of the CMS. I am not a designer and so would like someone to help me in this. I want something which is not used anytime and is more user friendly. Kindly come up with some wireframe and share with me and we would work along and get this thing worked out ASAP.

Good Day !!!

No problems, just send me an email and we can take it from there.

Ill be more then happy to help out the design/interface side but I think it's best to have some kind of forum to get everyone's input on features/requirements so we know what way to head with the interface.

Sounds like an awesome project. I've built a few small CMS with code igniter over the past few weeks. Each one is a little different in the way they function.

Dont know how much I can contribute but I hope there is something.
