If anyone here is thinking of switching to Drupal - don't!

I've just wasted an entire week messing around with Drupal. I bought a book, spent some time reading it, I tweaked and I worked but in the end it just wasn't worth it.

Everything about Drupal is slow, cumbersome, packed with bugs and non intuitive!

In my own case I was attempting to get a calendar up and running - a simple events calendar.

With Codeigniter I can build a simple events calendar in an hour - maybe two hours tops. Once it's built, I could have it looking any way I want and I could save it as a module which gurantees easy and instant re-use, if ever I need it. Wordpress users who want an events calendar have an even easier time of it. They just have to download a free module and then literally drag it into place.

Drupal users, on the other hand, have a nightmare of a time. To get a basic events calendar working I had to download and configure four seperate modules. Then you have to go and configure a bunch of other completely nonsensicle stuff. In my first attempt at doing this I followed THIS video to the letter and got it up and running - eventually.

Today I followed the very same tutorial to the letter but this time it's not working. What's that all about???

The funny thing is, even if it did work it would still be crap. Who wants to be in a place where ten second page loads are the norm, there's multiple stages for everything, total confusion everywhere and NOTHING MAKES ANY SENSE? It just sucks. It really really sucks.

I shall never waste another minute on Drupal. Long live Codeigniter (and possibly Wordpress too).

I developed in Drupal for many years (as university employee) and you are right.
It sucks and it's the worst crap of shit I have ever encountered.
Drupal makes developers adapt very bad coding habits.
A Drupal site with no content created weights 8 MB.
I use Codeigniter and it's much more maintainable and customizable.

Joomla is not that great either!

They are all over blotted and crap on a programmers view!
