I have a couple of questions regarding the licensing of CodeIgniter. If this is the wrong place to ask, please let me know, and I will be happy to move these questions to a different thread or make a new one.

Question 1
I'm currently developing a website using CodeIgniter 2.2.0. The license agreement states:
Quote:Products derived from the Software must include an acknowledgment that they are derived from CodeIgniter in their documentation and/or other materials provided with the distribution.

Does this mean that I must provide a notice in, say, the footer of the website?

Question 2
Does this change with the new MIT license?

IANAL, but my understanding is that a derivative product (something built on top of CI2 and distributed) needs to credit EllisLab. A website that uses CI2 does not need to give such credit, so long as you are not distributing your code.

With the MIT license and CI3, you can basically do what you want with the framework, so long as you retain the copyright notice and don't claim the framework as your own.

If I am mistaken, I trust someone will jump in and set me straight!

@ciadmin - That's the way I understand it, too.
