If we knew that, there would be no RC releases and the final release date would be already known. Release candidates are preview releases supposed to help find non-obvious issues that would otherwise remain unknown until the final release because the vast majority of users don't want to try the dev version out of fear that it is incomplete.
Thanks for the info Narf, but having 1024 RC releases is way off. Having more then 10 RC releases is just overkill. So I hope you where joking. But thank you for this new release. Here is RC description for readers here.
Quote:A release candidate (RC) is a beta version with potential to be a final product, which is ready to release unless significant bugs emerge. In this stage of product stabilization, all product features have been designed, coded and tested through one or more beta cycles with no known showstopper-class bug. A release is called code complete when the development team agrees that no entirely new source code will be added to this release. There could still be source code changes to fix defects, changes to documentation and data files, and peripheral code for test cases or utilities. Beta testers, if privately selected, will often be credited for using the release candidate as though it were a finished product. Beta testing is conducted in a client's or customer's location and to test the software from a user's perspective. Source: Wikipedia ![]()
Of course I was joking ... 1024 RCs would take close to 3 years if we released one every day.
![]() My point was that every RC may be the last one, but that is never guaranteed, so nobody could possibly answer your question.
the next version is rc3?
