DX Auth 1.0.6 (Authentication library)

You can try other auth packages, but you will probably be back. This one is the most straightforward and easiest to use and extend.

As far as profiles go, I would just use the one profile table and have fields for both types of users in it. Then use the roles feature as mentioned above to filter which fields in the profile to present to the user in question. You should be able to display different views to the user based on their role also. No need for two auth systems.
