Decent Mac Git GUI?

Is there one? We don't really have any decent SVN clients so going for a more obscure versioning system doesn't fill me with hope.

Seems like Google does not know of many, do any of you?

git UI's are experimental AFAIK. If you use netbeans there is a git module. If you look for a stand alone client check out gitnub

This is good for SVN - http://versionsapp.com/ or Coda works very well with SVN.

Dunno about GIT though. Sorry.

Cornerstone, http://zennaware.com, is a good SVN client for the Mac. I use it every day. An added bonus is that it neatly "versions" graphics as well.

I will try gitnub. I did notice it before but it seemed like a graphical "show log" and not a lot else.

Not a fan of Netbeans, gave it a try and it wouldn't let me save HTML documents with PHP in them as it was invalid HTML. I'm sure that silly logic can be changed with a setting somewhere, but I really don't have the time to faff with an IDE that wont let me put code into it.

As for versions and cornerstone (both of which I have used heavily) they are very limited. They have no support for merging and branching which is a must for me as I maintain several sites based from one central repository. If they supported patch files properly that would not be an issue, but they don't.

I could of course use a combination of Versions/Cornerstone/etc and command line (which is my main client at the moment) but those damn things contain their own version of SVN which means each time they upgrade Versions ahead of the Mac binaries I have a command line client that is out of date with the working copy. Useless!

And that I have to pay for? No thanks.

In Versions you can use the SVN binary from your mac, which is located at /usr/bin/svn.
You could also update your mac's SVN binary using the package from here: http://homepage.mac.com/martinott/

I had no problem with it (NetBeans 6.5), just download, install and run. The only change I made was to add in some version control modules (I use SVN and Mercurial).
In over 10 years of PHP, it's the best editor/IDE I've found...

I'll give Netbeans another run if it is this well reccomended. Always been happy with Eclipse but that may have just been lack of experimenting.

Good to see Netbeans have a Git module too (even if it is in rather early stages).
