Hi Lads, I'm moving my site ratemypub.ie over to codeigniter over the next few months and I'm sure I'll have a few questions popping up. I suppose the first question I have is images. On ratemypub when a user uploads an image the image is transferred to flickr in private mode, I can then look at the image and accept it onto my site (which sets it to public and allows it to be displayed on my site) or reject it, which deletes it from flickr. The advantages to this for me were 1 - the bandwidth is being used by flickr 2 - the fact that flickr creates a nice rss which is tag dependant and I connect this to google slideshow which creates a nice slideshow which you can see on a lot of my pages. Sooooooooo I'm wondering if this is the way to go with codeigniter i.e. create a function to do all of this or are there other easier ways that I havent heard about? Or is there a plugin for this already. Thanks for any advice you can give me lads. Thanks Gary

Hi Gary, Great website, and it serves such a noble purpose :-) Elliot Haughin posted a cool flickr library here, that might make a good starting point. Check out the pics to the right - those are loaded using the flickr library. And, as I write this, are mostly St. Patrick's day/pub themed - it's an omen! ;-)

You could look at the zend framework flickr library and integrate that into CI.

Thanks Mike, I'm working on a few big improvements and a bit of a name change (Think the "ratemy.." is dying out!) hopefully I'll get my head around the CI soon enough. I'm guessing there isnt an alternative CI library for this image management so? Those flickr libraries display photos and that kind of thing but I'm looking for something with slide shows and extra functionality like that.

well for a slideshow thats just a bit of jquery. using jquery in conjunction with codeigniter is very powerful and easy to do

Thanks for the very quick reply. I'm thinking so maybe I don't need flickr at all and just run the applications remotely. I'll do a bit more googling on the jquery slideshow (already using it for rounded corners it's the business!) any links on some good examples of this? Thanks again Gary
