code igniter

OK i am new at this and was wanting to use codeigniter. but i did what i think i was suppose to do to install it but dont think i did. i have look at the videos and was wondering what he is using to run codeigniter. can anyone tell me what or explain to me what i need to do to use codeigniter.

Basically a Webserver Running PHP and a database such as mysql

If you want to develop/test on your own machine:

Xampp for windows

Mampp for Mac OS

if using linux, your distribution will most likely have apache / php / mysql available on the install CD

There are alternative webservers, but most popular above.

Also there is XAMPP for Linux. It work as well as windows-version.
