Sad but true - help on the CI installation |
[eluser]meckanism[/eluser]
Howdy, Im new to CI and tried to install it based on the installation guide you guys provide with the beginners guide, and also followed other install guides available on the web. I just moved from a windows environment to a linux one so i might be really doing some crazy wrong stuff with this but i swear i'm loosing my mind :|. So here are my steps: note: im using Xampp(Lampp) for linux wich kindly installed apache+php and mysql residing in /opt/lampp/ 1 - downloaded version 1.7.1 2 - moved CodeIgniter_1.7.1 directory to /opt/lampp/ht_docs/ 3 - changed dir name from "CodeIgniter_1.7.1" to "shout" 4 - edited ht_docs/shout/system/application/config/config.php 5 - changed $config['base_url'] = "http://example.com"; to $config['base_url'] = "http://localhost/shout/"; 6 - opened browser and gone to http://localhost/shout/index.php/ to see if installation was successful the page displayed: ------------------------------------------------------------ Object not found! The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster. Error 404 ------------------------------------------------------------ what am i doing wrong here ? I really can't see whats wrong so please if you have any idea post it please =) many thanks in advance and sorry for wasting your time on something so easy :|

Should it not be htdocs instead of ht_docs? Or did you change some config settings somewhere?
[eluser]meckanism[/eluser]
ops sorry it is htdocs my mistake. EDIT: ok sorry guys problem is solved, dunno why but it started working now ( downloaded files and did the steps again and it worked fine, and i did do that like an hour ago with no luck ) maybe some files got corrupted i dunno, im just happy it works now

So did that fix the problem or was it just a typo when you wrote up your steps here?
[eluser]meckanism[/eluser]
it was a typo everything was set properly. Guess a re-installation fixed it somehow now i can start finally =) thanks for the help Dam1an!
