File and DB location for CMS

Hi there. Short time reader, first time poster.

I'm developing a CMS and was wondering what other developers do with the files and DB location. Do you load the CI files and DB onto your clients server, with the potential to have multiple instances of your CMS or do you host it all centrally on your own server?

I tend to install CI on the client's server. It's not a problem having multiple instances, just move the ci directory to outside of web root, update the config to tell it where it resides, then you can have multiple CI applications sharing the same CI.
