Managing language files - an easier way
#1

Hi there,

Apologies for cross-posting on the 'introduce yourself' board but hoping this is relevant to a lot of Codeigniter users.

We build all myGengo apps on CI when we can - and one of the problems we've had in the past when managing multilingual sites is keeping track of the language files - for instance if you have a site in English, Japanese and Spanish and you need to update the English files, you have to remember to update the Japanese one too. On a large site this can be a pain with traditional methods.

We developed an internal tool (using CI) to solve this problem - and now it's in a public (free) beta. Please check it out for your own CI projects and tell us what you think. More blurb below.

String

++
myGengo String helps you manage and monitor the localization of an application or website by showing clearly what areas need attention, and how far along translations are.

String manages the 'static' content - like menu bars, error messages - whatever is contained in 'language files' in your system.

Before String, managing the translation of an application was often confusing when inevitable changes and updates occurred. Few tools existed to help monitor progress, and supporting multiple languages only made the process more complicated.

With an easy and friendly interface, myGengo String removes the complications of managing application localization across multiple languages. You also have the option to request translations by our global network of qualified translators, or invite your own trusted translator(s) to localize your application for you.
