I've started building an application, but I've run into a problem in that the website I'm working on will contain a fair amount of French. I haven't really got to grips with charsets and I need to ensure that eacutes and the like are handled correctly. Can anybody answer these questions for me?

1) What do I need to do as far as charsets are concerned with respect to views, php code and the MySQL database?

2) Does CodeIgniter have any of its own methods for encoding accented characters into html or should I be looking at HTML entities or something?

S'alright folks, I put a UTF-8 content header at the start of index.php and everything's happy as Larry. :-)
