Oh, and another quick tip: I usually do the form validation in a separate method ie _comment_validate() and run the following:

if ($this->_comment_validate() === FALSE) {
    // Do stuff here
}

I do it like this because now I can re-use the validation, for example if you want to add an edit comment method you can simply use the same validation script
