The Greatest Web Development Tutorial in the World |

Greetings my fellow Codeigniterers. Last week somebody accused me of not contributing to the Codeigniter community. So, in response I've written the greatest web development tutorial in the world. It's at: http://davidjconnelly.wordpress.com (totally non commerical link, by the way) You're welcome to check it out and, if you've got a moment to spare, I'd really love your feedback. Contribution complete.

Took a look but it's way too much writing and way too little content for me personally. If I'm looking for a tutorial I want it to be concise, not an essay. I'm sure it'll benefit some people who enjoy reading though.

I took a quick peak and thought this line was humorous: Quote:"If you’re an aspiring web developer and you’d like to learn some amazing web development skills then I’m here to blow your mind." Gonna blow my mind huh? haha! I'll be sure to read it later and give some feedback.

Hi, Iloveci, You're right. I'm probably more geared towards writing than teaching Codeigniter. My degree is in English Literature and I enjoy writing about things from time to time, just for fun. To be honest I'm not much of a Codeigniter expert compared to most of the people here in this forum - but that's a secret! Many thanks for your comment. Hi jr, Well, I'm glad I at least got your attention. Thanks for the comment.

@jrtashjian - actually, the main source of inspiration for my choice of words comes from Tenacious D songs, but nobody seems to have noticed.

@DavidC, Your understanding of the nature of a discussion forum is way off buddy. Not one of the main forum topics here relate to helping n00bs learn PHP or CodeIgniter for that matter. The forums are for discussion of CodeIgniter and coding in general, by like minded people, and for them share code samples. There is a job forum as you well know, for asking for help, paid or otherwise. The reason so many people do help is because the Ellislab company have created a n00b friendly entry point for their products through here. Unfortunately people like you rock in expecting to get explanations for things, without doing one iota of research yourself, on topics that have been posted and resolved 100 times before you became a member. And, if you don't get treated as you feel you should, you run off and post sarcastic remarks about the people here, like your damn opinion counts for something. Everyone is entitled to an opinion DavidC, but we all know that most of them stink.

I think I'm supposed to either argue back or apologise or something. The trouble is I simply don't understand what you're talking about. Nothing you say makes any sense to me at all and I find your message perplexing. I can see that you're angry about something but I'm not sure what the precise nature of your complaint is - nor am I sure what outcome you're hoping to achieve. So, let me help you. I'll give you two options: OPTION 1: * Please imagine that I've just said something that somehow reverses all of the things that led you to being such an angry person. You can imagine an apology, me rethinking my entire life or any other scenario that makes you look good and leaves you feeling happy. Don't worry about me. You're the important person here. You can even imagine how good it would feel to beat me up. Go ahead! Now, in your mind's eye I want you to visualise yourself punching me on the face over and over. Look at the face. Ok, now look at the blood and keep punching. Aaah yes! Now, doesn't that feel good? OPTION 2: * If you really insist on having an argument of some sort, please pass your complaint onto a nominated representative of your choice who can interpret what you're saying for me. Once I've taken on board whatever message they have then I'll try my best to get back to you with some sort of argumentative response - but I can't promise that it will be as angry as whatever you've put out. There we go! Now everyone's happy!!! ![]() |
