Did anything replace scaffolding

I've cycled around to circumstances of using codeigniter again, only to find that scaffolding has been deprecated. Can anyone tell me what has replaced it?

Scaffolding was removed for security issues and really any db management app is way more flexible and designed to better to manage your data.
