Why you need all the content from a cache file?
I am getting the feeling your looking to the wrong options.
So explain more what you want to accomplice.
Are you scrapping things from other sites or someting?
Then it is much easyer to use file_get_contents() and file_put_contents().
Or a much better solution ask for a XML file. Then you can do everything with it what you want.
And the best of all.. It's a legal way..
