Question about selling a Domain name...

Let say i own a domain name, blah.com...
and i purchased it for 3 years with a hosting package.

now the domain name is going to expire in 5 months.

is it legal for me to sell it to someone for like $1000+

(sorry im new to domains and stuff)

I think Yes, because you are selling the domain name not the hosting or reamaining time for domain ownership.

ok so if i bought it 2 years ago in an all in one hosting package, its mine right and i can do what ever (sell it) and then after they buy it they can worry about paying for the domain name every year?

...just making sure im not doing something illegal
