Exactly, it's a framework, not a CMS. Please don't make CI bloated and unmaintainable like Joomla !

Don't get started on Joomla. I work for a company that wants to set up an Entrapaneur <> Investor type website for a client. They are proposing to develop for Joomla (Joomla is ok if you want to overcomplicate things and deal with shitty code). Just so they can cheap out and use Plugins which they can purchase.

I don't look forward to it, I wont be able to produce quality code.

ugh. i know the feeling. Same with wordpress. o.O
So many companies want to use it, yet don't even understand it. It's such a super CPU hog. It's crazy how much cpu wordpress uses. Like 150 times as much as my own CMS, and that's just a basic wordpress install lol. Sure it can be optimized to an extent, but not as much as I like to optimize. I would need to hack the heck of the core. I feel your pain lol.

Anyway, personally I don't see any need to have an auth included in CI as it can be a very custom solution. Even in my own CMS I've tried to limit what I have added onto ion_auth. If a client requires special functionality I will extend it as a custom feature. It's actually why I love working like this. My hands are free to work, where in closed systems my hands are tied behind my back. While yes you can hack the core. You increase your work load when you need to perform updates. I find this in the long run will lead to messy code and messy standards. In some cases it can resort to lazy coding practices.
