Advice needed - should I learn Expression Engine ?

Hi - Over the last 7 months I have become reasonably competent with CI. The result is an order processing system with about 105 pages, and over 400 functions. Thanks to every one who has helped me - I'm still not 100% finished.

However, most of my projects are still 10 page small business sites, which I used to always do with WordPress or Joomla.

So, I need the advice of more experienced people than me, should I learn EE with my new knowledge of CI or should I stick with WP. My number BIG worry is that EE has a pig of a learning curve. Please can someone confirm / deny this ?

The number 1 perceived benefit is the potential to expand traditional CMS functionality with my own customer code.

Can someone help me find a way forward with this ?? I would prefer to go with one of the big name CMS's hence I am not looking at Pyro.

Many thanks !!

EE's learning curve isn't that bad. It helps to look at other people's code, since I think the EE documentation is incredibly lacking (which is disappointing, considering how detailed CI's docs are).

The downside of EE for smaller websites is the cost. But it certainly has its bonuses over things like Wordpress.

I would get it and experiment, and see if it would suit your clients well. If you think it would fit into your work flow and it's something you want to sell as a service, then go for it. I'm glad I've gotten into it, because for certain situations it's a very good fit.
