Send IMs from CI

I would like to be able to send IMs from my CI website. I'm wondering if anyone has any good scripts that they may have used in the past? I need the site to be able to initiate the conversation in order to send reminders and most of the chat bot scripts only support replying to a received IM.

If anyone has any good references, please let me know. Thanks!

Did you check out the Mail helper library? It has everything you need. Check out the user guide.

It's "fairly" simple, but nothing native to PHP or CI will allow you to do this. The most common solution (the same solution that meebo uses) is the libgaim library.

Thanks. That's definitely worth looking in to. I've found a few perl scripts, but nothing that included multiple services. If I find anything else, I'll post it back here as a reference.
