Community Auth now has an ACL feature, allowing for finer control over permissions.
http://community-auth.com/documentation/...ntrol-list This doesn't take the place of regular authentication, but allows for great flexibility. Usage is not required, but you would need to design an interface to handle creation of ACL categories, actions, and permissions.
