Authentication

i understand the reasons not to implement authentication into CI4 but have to say that in the long term it would really benefit codeigniters userbase to have its own authentication library (maybe as third party library like ionAuth / tankAuth or communityAuth).

Two things:

1) Depending on how CI 4 turns out, there may not be a Community Auth for CI 4. I haven't been following along with CI 4 development, but  I'm satisfied with CI 3 and hope that it is officially supported for a long time, or that somebody takes CI 3 and keeps going with it in some capacity. At this point, the only person that could probably do that well is Narf.

2) The mentioned authentication libraries couldn't be more different, and if for instance ionAuth was the official authentication of CI 4, it'd be a major inconvenience for me. I think that's one of the reasons why it's not going to happen, because no matter what authentication was official, there would always be people that would want something else. You can't please everyone.
