Handling of Fatal Errors in PHP 5 and 7

Hello All, I want to know which PHP version handles fatal errors between php5 and php7. As I am working on php5 based project, I have posted this query on quora as well and according to this reference, PHP 7 process of handling fatal errors has been made quite simple. This script function is used for return type execution. The programmers need to define the return type post the parenthesis of an argument. In this script, major bugs can be converted into exceptions making them easier to handle. Can anyone tell me about PHP 5 process?
