I wrote CI3 application praca in userdir, with .htaccess. The problem is that when I try to open localhost/~robert/praca I see source of part of index.php file:
=')) { error_reporting(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_DEPRECATED & ~E_STRICT & ~E_USER_NOTICE & ~E_USER_DEPRECATED); } else { error_reporting(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_STRICT & ~E_USER_NOTICE); } break; default: header('HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable.', TRUE, 503); echo 'The application environment is not set correctly.'; exit(1); // EXIT_ERROR } /* *--------------------------------------------------------------- * SYSTEM DIRECTORY NAME *--------------------------------------------------------------- * * This variable must contain the name of your "system" directory. * Set the path if it is not in the same directory as this file. */ $system_path = '../../system'; /* *--------------------------------------------------------------- * APPLICATION DIRECTORY NAME *--------------------------------------------------------------- * * If you want this front controller to use a different "application" * directory than the default one you can set its name here. you said CI 3, but you are checking the user guide of Codeigniter 4, which does not make any sense.

I am not checking anything. The listing is part of CI3's index.php file shown by my browser.
I use PHP 5.6 and Ubuntu 22.

what I meant was the link you provided in your post, that is for Codeigniter 4,

would you mind showing your code of index.php and what's your base_url

Sorry for my post - I should not create my post because my problem is in fact Apache-related, not CodeIgniter-related. On my localhost Apache does not server php in userdir - that's the problem. I thought I have a problem only with localhost/~robert/praca application (this is why I thought it's CodeIgniter problem, but it's not true: also non-CodeIgniter applications are not processed in localhost/~robert/... but I didn't notice that). Sorry.
Anyway here's my index.php:

Look at your index.php file at the application and system folder paths ../../

That is wrong in CodeIgniter 3x it's application and system no ../../

Thats just part of your problem, check your paths and make sure there right.

What did you Try? What did you Get? What did you Expect?

Paths are valid.
I added +x permission to /home and /home/robert and now application praca runs.
But the problem still occurs in other 2 applications rozgloszenia1 and rozgloszenia2 - i.e. php source code is displayed.
Here structure of my applications:

~/public_html/praca
~/Projekty/praca/application

~/public_html/rozgloszenia1
~/Projekty/rozgloszenia1/application

~/public_html/rozgloszenia2
~/Projekty/rozgloszenia2/application

Permissions are the same for all applications.
What could be the reason of my problem?
