Is Codeigniter 2.x suitable for my web application?

Considering my background in Unix systems programming and limited web development experience, and with a tight deadline for a complex web application, I'm looking for a framework that is easy to learn, has extensive documentation and tutorials, and an active community. It should support features like user registration with captcha, user verification via mobile phone, email and SMS functionality, integration with a payment gateway, and efficient CRUD operations. Additionally, the framework should not hinder AJAX implementation or mobile device accessibility, and should offer reasonable performance. While considering Codeigniter, I noticed that most discussions and libraries are available for the older version, 1.7, and there is little confirmation of their compatibility with Codeigniter 2.1. Does this lack of support suggest that Codeigniter 2.x has lower adoption and community backing? Can the community guide me in choosing Codeigniter 2.x koows for my requirements?
